Andrew 'Snakey' Melrose - Snake Catcher

Have been Reptile handling, keeping and breeding reptiles since the mid 1970’s till present.

In 1992 he started doing reptile shows and presentations, including dangerously venomous snakes, alongside the late George Cann junior, and John Cann. Who were famous for their snake shows at the famous LaPerouse snake pit in Sydney, where their father the late George Cann senior performed from 1919 till 1965, where his two sons George junior and John Cann took over the reigns after their fathers passing.

The experience was unsurpassed in the industry, with the business being the longest running snake show in the world, and the first registered reptile display business in NSW.

 

George Cann junior passed away in 2001, and John Cann retired in 2010, with Andrew continuing the reptile show business still to this day, called Live Reptile Displays.

Andrew currently presents, educates about, and works with some of the worlds most venomous snakes on the planet, dangerous reptiles such as crocodiles, along with pythons, lizards, turtles.

 

Andrew has been issued a Catch and Release professional reptile handlers licence from National Parks and Wildlife Service, and runs his own professional reptile catching and relocation business, which includes an array of clients, from homeowners in suburbs, to businesses, large government bodies, such as Department of Primary Industries to be contracted as a professional handler and to ID animals.

 

Andrew has and still does work at a high professional level with all varieties of reptiles, ranging from TV and Film, to Education in Schools and government institutes such as TAFE, pre schools, many public events, such as Agricultural Shows which involves travelling many kilometres across the country to perform and educate the people from the city, to right out in remote towns, where the Education on these animals is vital.

 

TV and Film is a specialty for Andrew, as along with his competent handling skills, he is also a good presenter, be it to a camera, or a live audience with ease and confidence.

You may have seen some of Andrew’s work, or his animals in action on shows such as Harry’s Practice, Better Homes and Gardens, Totally Wild, Who Dares wins, The amazing race, Mad Max Fury road, Doctor Doctor, BBC Natural History, National Geographic, Fat Pizza Movie, Nickelodeon, The Today Show, Sunrise, and advertising and promotions for brands such as Step One, The Upside, Sun Herald Newspaper, Petbarn, and much more.

Much of this work has had Andrew working with, and alongside many famous high end celebrities and actors, where he has got along famously, and worked professionally with ease with some of the best entertainers in the world.

 

Andrew is highly regarded within the industry, and his peers, being a Field trip coordinator in early years at the Australian Herpetological Society, progressing onto being President for 7 years, then stepping down to Vice President, which he currently still holds this position now.

Andrew is also currently Vice President of the Mobile Wildlife Exhibitors Association of NSW

 

Nothing within the industry is beyond him, and his easily approachable manner makes him a go to person for so many people needing help advice, to professionals also looking for answers on experiences hes had and can share his knowledge.

Jade Melrose - Snake Catcher

Jade has been around Snakes and Reptiles since she was a toddler. She has been on Better Homes and Gardens with Dr Harry when she was a young teenager. And she appeared on Harry's Practice with Snakes when she was 4 years old! She now works as an Exercise Physiologist and helps out her Dad with Snake call outs when she has time off work.

Clinton Barter - Director, Writer and Producer

As the creative director of Snakey, I have been involved in the Television, Photography and Advertising Industries since 1990. I have been on the set of more than 100 Television programs and Television Advertisements. I have worked in many roles in front of the camera and behind it. I now reside in Sunny Queensland but hail from Sydney where I spent most of my working career. From 1990-2003 I modelled and did TV Commercials for agencies Chadwick Models, Amanda Cameron Management, June Dally Watkins, and Shelley’s Model Management. In 2003 I started my own Model and Promotional Agency in Brisbane called 'Barter Models'. I gained great insight into running a busy Agency, employing over 200 models. During those years I photographed many Test Shoots for the Models I employed. I started my Press Photography career with leading World Press Agency Tito Media. He furthered his career with Snapper Media in Sydney in 2013. Snapper Media is an independent media licensing agency for professionals. They offer images to publishing, new media, advertising and commercial clients throughout the Australasian and Asian Region. I now work as a freelance photographer for Barter Photography. I also run Bartz Productions as a Director, Writer and Producer.

John Blackman - Narrator

John Blackman is one of the most visible and successful personalities in Australian radio and television.
In a show business career spanning nearly 50 years, he has achieved enormous recognition, due (in no small way) to the 28 years he spent with Daryl Somers in the pivotal role as the voice of Dickie Knee and numerous other characters (including himself) behind Australia's longest running variety show Hey Hey It's Saturday.
John has also appeared on many television shows including: Paul Hogan Show, Holiday Island, Prisoner, Personality Squares, Blankety Blanks, Family Feud, Daryl Somers Show – just to mention a few.
He also has vast radio experience, starting out at 2GN Goulburn in 1969, 2CA Canberra in 1970 and hosting numerous breakfast shows, including 3AK, 2UE, 2GB, 3UZ and MMM in Adelaide.

Recognised for his versatility as the "master of the one-liner and the quick quip", John is still in constant demand as a genial and amusing compere/host for conferences, awards nights and many formal and social occasions.
He is equally in demand for endorsement of products on radio, television and press.
John’s familiarity and excellent rapport with his audiences have made him one of the most sought after personalities on the Australian corporate scene.

UK educated, with an honours degree in Psychology, JD’s first industry position was a data logger at Beyond Productions. After completing courses at the National Film School (UK), AFTRS and Sydney University in writing and directing, JD has worked on numerous short films, features, and TV movies.

With a clear understanding of producing, JD brings a unique style to every production, he has been able to deliver each project on time and on budget. In his editing, JD combines a strong understanding of story with his psychology background to explore the world of the film and its characters, creating a truly cohesive product.
